CRDD is an ID scanner for door staff at bars, clubs, and venues, made by Flynch MB.

Email hello@theflynch.com. Include your iPhone model and its iOS version, the type of document you scanned (for example, "Ontario driver's license" or "German passport"), and what the app showed. Please do not send photos of guests' IDs or screenshots with guest data. We reply within two working days.

Common questions

Which IDs does CRDD read?

US and Canadian driver's licenses and ID cards, from the PDF417 barcode on the back.
Passports and national ID cards, from the machine-readable zone (MRZ): the two or three lines of letters, numbers, and < signs.

Passports and ID cards that have a chip can also be checked with the chip check.

Why does a scan fail?

Most failed scans are caused by glare, distance, or a worn barcode. Try these:

Move the phone back a little, so the whole barcode or MRZ is in the frame and in focus.
Tilt the document away from lights to remove glare, especially on shiny cards.
In a dark room, turn on the torch in the app.
If the barcode or MRZ is scratched or worn and still does not read, check the document by hand.

What does "check by hand" mean?

CRDD could not give a clear admit or deny. Look at the document and the person yourself before you decide.

Does CRDD prove that an ID is real?

No. The barcode and MRZ checks read the printed data, but they cannot prove that the card or page is genuine. The chip check proves that the chip data was signed by the issuing country, and shows the photo stored on the chip, so you can compare it with the person. Always use your own judgement. The venue remains responsible for who it admits.

How does the chip check work?

CRDD uses the MRZ it has just read to unlock the chip, reads the data and the holder's photo from the chip over NFC, and checks the issuing country's digital signature against a list of country certificates bundled in the app. All of this happens on the phone.

How do I hold the document for the chip check?

Hold the document flat against the top of the back of the iPhone, near the cameras, and keep it still for about 5 seconds.

Passports: open the passport at the photo page and put that page on the phone. If that does not work, try the back cover, because some passports have the chip there.
ID cards: put the card flat on the phone and keep it still.
If it still fails, remove a thick or metal phone case and try again.

Does any data leave my phone?

No. CRDD has no account and no server. The scan log and the lists are stored on the phone in an encrypted database, chip photos stay in the app's private storage and are kept out of backups, and camera frames are never saved. We never receive guest data. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How long does CRDD keep scans?

You choose 7, 30, or 90 days in Settings. Older scans and their photos are deleted automatically. Ban and VIP list entries stay until you remove them from the list.

How do I delete the data?

Open Settings in the app and tap "Clear the log" to delete all scans. Remove people from the ban or VIP list to delete their entries. Deleting the app deletes all CRDD data on the phone.

Do we need to tell guests that we scan IDs?

The venue is responsible for the guest data it scans. In many places you must tell guests, for example with a notice at the door, and follow local rules on scanning and keeping ID data. Check the laws that apply to your venue.

How do I restore CRDD Pro on a new phone?

How do I cancel my subscription or free trial?

Open Settings in CRDD. Tap "Manage subscription". The app opens your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Select CRDD Pro. Cancel before the next renewal. For an Apple free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Your Pro access continues until the end of the paid period.

Can I get a refund?

Request a refund from the store that processed your purchase. For Apple purchases, use reportaproblem.apple.com. For Google Play purchases, use Google Play refund support.
