This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Ply collects, how it is used, and the choices available to users.
Thank you for choosing Ply. Ply, made by Flynch MB ("Flynch," "we," or "us"), is a chess clock and board game timer. Ply is designed to keep your data on your device: we operate no account system, no server, and no database of users.
If you do not agree with this Policy, please discontinue use of the Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in the Ply Terms of Service.
Ply keeps its working data on your device, not on our servers:
Deleting the app deletes this data.
Ply Pro is purchased through the Apple App Store on iPhone and iPad or Google Play on Android, as a weekly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, and managed with RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user identifier and purchase metadata (plan, price, currency, renewal state), so your purchase can be restored on another device signed in to the same Apple Account or Google account. Payment itself is processed by Apple or Google — we never see your name, card number, or billing details.
The Ply app contains no advertising SDKs and no third-party analytics SDKs. It does not ask for the camera, the microphone, your location, your contacts, or notifications. Spoken warnings use the voice built into your device and are made on the device. We do not build behavioral profiles and we do not sell personal data.
When you contact hello@theflynch.com, we collect the information you provide, including attachments, to respond and improve our services.
We use the data described above to:
Where GDPR or similar laws apply, we process personal data based on:
We do not sell your personal data. Data leaves your device only to the following categories of recipients, each to the extent needed to provide the Service:
Because Ply's data lives on your device, you control its retention: deleting the app removes your game history, player names, presets, and preferences. RevenueCat, Apple, and Google retain purchase records according to their own policies. You may request deletion of any support correspondence by contacting hello@theflynch.com.
We use technical, organizational, and administrative safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration, including transport encryption for all network requests. No online service is completely secure; please keep your device and software updated and notify us of any suspected compromise.
We operate in the European Union and rely on service providers located in other countries, including the United States. When personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect your rights.
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
To exercise these rights, email hello@theflynch.com with your request. Because we hold no data about you server-side, most of these rights are exercised directly on your device as described in Section 5.
Ply is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data without proper consent, contact us so we can remove it.
The Service includes links to websites and platforms we do not control, such as the Apple App Store and Google Play. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties. Review their policies before providing personal information.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know the categories of personal information we collect, use, and disclose, as described in Sections 1–4. You may also request deletion of personal information, subject to exemptions under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
If you reside in the European Union, you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. You can find contact details at https://edpb.europa.eu/about-edpb/about-edpb/members_en.
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in laws, technology, or our practices. When we make material changes, we will notify you by in-app notice or by posting an update on our website, and indicate the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the Service after the effective date means you accept the revised Policy.
